Day 1 Recap
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Day 1 of the Selkirk First Nation General Assembly!
Day 1 included a joint investment report from our investment managers at TD and RBC, a report from the Finance Committee, and a productive Citizens’ Open Forum with thoughtful discussion and engagement.
We ended the evening with a special screening of Fistful of Vodka, with director Robert Joe in attendance. More than 12 years in the making, the film was a passion project brought to life with the help of family, friends, and a dedicated group of filmmakers.
The film won Best Northern Short at the 2025 Available Light Film Festival, among other accolades and international screenings.
Day 2 continues Saturday, October 17!
Breakfast will be served from 8–9 a.m., with General Assembly proceedings beginning at 9 a.m. at the Link Building.

Day 2 Recap
We had another strong turnout from Citizens today as the Assembly received and accepted the audited financial statements for Selkirk First Nation, Selkirk First Nation Development Corporation, and its companies.
The Assembly also passed a resolution renewing the Minto Mine Overhead Fund.
Tonight (October 17), join us at the Link Building at 6:30 p.m. for a fundraising bingo in support of SFN Citizens participating in Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week, November 18-21, 2026.
The fundraiser will support designers Kaylyn and Amber Baker, along with models Jada Joe and youth Havanah Baker, as they prepare to take part in the event.
The General Assembly continues tomorrow, Sunday, October 18, beginning at 9 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 9 a.m.
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we encourage everyone attending to wear pink tomorrow! There will be prizes, and you must be wearing pink to be eligible.

Day 3 Recap
That’s a wrap on the 2026 Selkirk First Nation General Assembly.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the third and final day, and to all Citizens who participated throughout the weekend, both in person and online.
Today’s assembly included a presentation from the Eliza Van Bibber School Community Committee, followed by an in-camera discussion where Citizens shared their thoughts about education. A commitment was made to hold a dedicated community meeting to allow more time for these important conversations.
Selkirk Copper also provided an update on its plans, including employment opportunities and plans to establish an office in Pelly Crossing.
The Finance Committee shared the Council Remuneration Policy with Citizens, and a new Resolutions Committee was appointed.
The weekend concluded with plenty of door prizes and closing remarks from Chief and Council, who thanked Citizens for their thoughtful participation and meaningful discussions throughout the assembly.
A special thank you to our chairperson, Rose Kushniruk, for guiding the assembly throughout the weekend, and to Gúnta Business, our coordinators, staff, cooks, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this year’s gathering possible.
We are grateful for the strong turnout, both online and in person, and for the continued engagement and support of our Citizens.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the 2026 General Assembly a success.
Best wishes to all!
