Halloween Safety Reminders
It’s almost Halloween!
Selkirk First Nation Community Safety Officers would like to wish all our children, families, and community members a safe, fun, and enjoyable Halloween.
As our little ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and princesses head out trick-or-treating, we encourage everyone to take a few extra precautions to help keep our community safe.
A few Halloween safety reminders:
For Parents and Guardians:
– Make sure younger children are accompanied by a responsible adult.
– Ensure costumes are warm, comfortable, and visible in the dark.
– Use flashlights, glow sticks, or reflective materials.
– Remind children to stay together and use designated walking areas.
– Check all treats before children enjoy them.
For Drivers:
– Please slow down and use extra caution when driving through the community.
– Watch carefully for children crossing roads and walking along streets.
– Be especially mindful during the evening hours when visibility is reduced.
– Avoid distractions while driving.
For Trick-or-Treaters:
– Walk, don’t run, between homes.
– Use sidewalks and stay visible.
– Only visit homes where porch lights are on.
– Never enter a stranger’s home or vehicle.
– Have fun, be respectful, and look out for one another!
Halloween is a special time for our children and families. Let’s all do our part to make sure everyone can enjoy the evening safely.
The Community Safety Officers will be out and about in the community throughout Halloween evening to help promote safety and provide assistance where needed.
Have a Happy Halloween and stay safe!
